as i studied more into Taosim and Buddhism, i realised one thing. in both religion, there are no "Gods". firstly, you'll need to think of the word god as a term coined by Ang Mo.
In Taoism, there are 神 and there are 仙. so whats the difference between the two? Shen are ppl who died and was coronated as 神. 仙 are ppl who obtained immortality. the major diffence will be that 神 will leave a corpse between while 仙 move on with its physical body as well.
In Buddhism, 佛 finally understood the workings of the universe and moved beyond reincarnation. 菩萨 are those that can become 佛, but chose not to as they cant move beyond thier compassion for ppl. 罗汉 are those who reached a level where they can are beyond the reincarntion cycle, but not yet to the level of buddha.
In both religion, the creator of the universe and everything are not ard anymore.
regardless of things are existing or not. whether they are frictional or not. it dont really matter. when it comes to religion, its always a sensitive subject. using F-word to describe it is a absolute no-no. using the f-word for anything, was always a no-no. if you use it infront of your kids, they will use it back to you.
look at it in this sense, you wear an ugly shirt out and your friend commented that its ugly. whether you feel if it's true or not, dont really matter. it's gonna hurt. the closer you feel your friend is, the more it will hurt.

Well, I definitely agree with you that using the word "Fuck" is a stupid moment for me. It is fucking stupid of me to use the Fuck word to describe the issue. No sacarsm here. I really mean it. However when I say that I stand by what I say is also true. I still think that it is similar to worshipping Harry Potter.
ReplyDeleteJust to put into context before we continue on, I am more tapoica (Chinese) than potato (Ang Moh). Journey to the West is the first of the 4 classics that I read. Nothing against Chinese tradition or folklores. The idea regarding the worshipping of the Monkey God/Zhu Ba Jie and etc is already in my mind BEFORE I become a Christian, which I think is around 12.
It is interesting that you raise that ugly shirt scenario. Personally, I think that it is a situation of Emperor's new clothes.
The emperor can kill the kid for for saying, "You are fucking stupid for believing that there are clothes." The reason is that the kid use the word fuck on the emperor.
However if the kid say, "There is no clothes." There is no reason why the kid should be kill since there is really no clothes in the first place.
If I were to say that Raymond is a very, very close friend, I will be a hypocrite (which I am not, since I do not go around calling everyone brother like 'Romantic'). However I can say that I care enough to feel sorry for hurting his feelings.
Nevertheless, I think that a friend should stand up and speak the truth about an ugly shirt. If the shirt is ugly, I would rather my friend tell me that it is ugly than
- laugh inside his heart
- laugh it behind my back
- gather a few guys to laugh TOGETHER behind my back
- ENCOURAGE me to wear it on the most important occassion and gather EVERYONE to laugh together
Anyway, the comment was an off the cuff (improtu) comment and not deliberately made to mock or provoke Raymond. That is why I was caught off guard.
Using the same shirt analogy,
If he is my very very close friend, "Its gona hurt. However I think that this clothe is really not suitable for you."
If he is a close friend, "You want to go and shop for some shirts together?"
Anything below, I will not do anything.
To be honest, Raymond is around the okay friend category. Which means that I will not I will go ALL OUT the way to help kind. However I will also not leave him in lurch if I can help in any capacity.
Nevertheless there is no incentive for me to speak the truth if I know it will hurt him. It is simply an improtu comment which is not directed at him but unfortunately has the effect of irritating him.
I am not a zealous Christian who go around converting others. The reason is because I know that most people will kill the messanger when it is being pointed out that they are not wearing any clothes.
Up till now, I have only shared the gospel to 2 person. The first is a total stranger when I was SUPER on. The second was my maternal grandfather who is the closest kin to me then. Yes, I feel closer to him than my parents.
Just out of curiousity, does the Taoist creation of universe begins with Pan Gu? Or is there anything that I missed?
At the same time, what is the budhist idea of creating of the universe?
